Five checks before committing to a tender
Silver Oak Ventures insights
Not every opportunity is a good opportunity. Before assigning a bid team, review these five areas and document the reasons to proceed.
1. Strategic fit
Does the project align with your core capabilities, geographic reach, track record and business priorities?
2. Eligibility
Review mandatory registrations, financial thresholds, experience requirements and any specified certifications directly against the tender notice and documents.
3. Capacity
Confirm that the team, equipment, partners and delivery schedule can realistically support the work.
4. Commercial risk
Identify unusual contractual conditions, payment terms, bonds, warranties and dependencies requiring specialist review.
5. Submission readiness
Map the deliverables, approving parties and deadlines. Do not commit unless the team can prepare a complete, reviewed submission.
Structured qualification helps teams avoid chasing too many opportunities while improving their focus on the most relevant work.
